Kia ora! I’m Marie, and this is my website and online portfolio. I’ve wanted to work in the publishing industry for years and, as a result, have been doing so since 2007.
In my first year of university I founded Semaphore Magazine (Sir Julius Vogel Award for Best Production or Publication, 2010), which I ran for four years. During that time I published fifteen electronic issues of the magazine and four print books. The 2009 and 2010 Semaphore Anthologies were both nominated for Sir Julius Vogel Awards for Best Collected Work. I relished the experience of working with authors and illustrators to create interesting and attractive books.
To improve my self-taught skills, in 2012 I completed the Diploma in Publishing (Applied) at Whitireia Polytechnic, where I was able to work closely with local publishers on a variety of projects. See my Portfolio for some of my recent work, including two landmark collections of Maori and Pasifika plays. New Zealand has a vibrant and exciting publishing industry, and I am excited to be a part of it.
I have experience in editing, project management and production for trade and corporate clients. If you have an upcoming book project and are looking for some professional assistance, please get in touch.
